Experience of whatever kind absolutely cannot become our main focus, nor can we prove our interpretation of the Word by it. The Lord, however, certainly gives us, in His unique way, very precious confirmations and intimate assurances of His Word. The human tendency is to testify to these experiences, which then can lead to a number of problems. We must heed the Holy Spirit’s direction. There are many examples of people in leadership who did not do so, which eventually led to pride, a superior attitude, imitating and covetousness by followers, and even entire ministries filled with error and imbalance. The works of God are indeed splendid and hand-tailored, but how we handle them must glorify Him and Him alone. —TBC
