It is only because Christ is God come down as a Man, without sin of His own and thus able to die for the sins of others, that He could pay the debt demanded by infinite justice. And it is on that righteous basis of the debt having been paid in full that He now offers full pardon and eternal life with Him in heaven. –TBC
