Despite the accusations of those who deny the security of the believer, it is not true that those who believe it try to see how much they can get by with. The writer of Hebrews warns that the Lord chastens His disobedient children (Hebrews:12:1–11). Let us be as those of whom this same writer spoke, of whom he was persuaded better things, “things that accompany salvation” (Hebrews:6:9).

"And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
