“Praying always” speaks of our attitude toward the Lord—not the frequency or duration of our praying. Prayer is simply communication with our Creator. As one missionary pointed out, there is much praying going on, but precious little prayer. We see an example in Scripture of Nehemiah, a man who was in constant communication with God. When standing before the king of Persia, Nehemiah was asked what he desired. His immediate response was “I prayed to the God of heaven.” Clearly, he did not get down on his knees and pray aloud in the presence of the king, but his attitude of constant prayer enabled him to call out to God in his mind. It was the natural thing to do.

"Pray without ceasing."
