IHOP-KC once again withholds mention of Catholic participation at Onething conference

Like the saying goes, It is deja vu all over again. In 2012, the Catholic Church was scheduled to participate in the International House of Prayer’s [IHOP] Onething conference. While this startling information was available on Catholic sites online, there was virtually nothing about it on the IHOP-KC [Kansas City] or Onething websites.

In 2012, Catholic participation was canceled, and this spiritual partnership never took place. Now, in 2015 [Dec. 28-31], the Catholics are once again scheduled to participate at Onething, and IHOP-KC founder Mike Bickle has determined yet again to keep this information off the IHOP-KC/Onething website.

Why? Because Bickle knows there are still those in the visible church who are opposed to this. For good reason—while Catholics are our neighbors and friends, Catholic theology is far removed from the Truth of the Bible. "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" (Amos:3:3).

While mum’s the word from IHOP-KC, a Catholic site is very informative (and promotional) about this upcoming partnership: According to majorchange.org, “…we would like to acknowledge this unprecedented event’s historical and spiritual importance as we, by participating with the International House of Prayer, make a small step toward ecumenical unity…” [1] The Catholic site also states, “We are grateful to Mike Bickle and his leadership team for making it possible for us to gather ecumenically with fellow Christians.” [2] Here is the thing: [If] some individual Catholics may be saved, this is in spite of Catholic teaching, not because of it.

"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed" (Galatians:1:8).*

Like his fellow contemplatives Rick Warren and Beth Moore, Bickle is playing a significant role in the unraveling of biblical understanding. And don’t kid yourself. Unity for the sake of unity is not love. Holding to the gospel given to us by Christ, as increasingly difficult as this has become, is true love.

As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. (Galatians:1:9).
