TBC Staff

Dear Dave,

I am presently enjoying reading When Will Jesus Come? Dispensational faith and teaching face an uphill struggle in the church world, and I fear that struggle will become more intense in the days to come, especially when it refers to the distinction between Israel and the church. The professing church pays lip service to Israel, but their teachings mostly exclude them…. DP (CA)

Dear Dave and Berean Call Staff:

Although I have not yet had an opportunity to view…The Passion, I have been disturbed by the fact that the movie was made by a devout Roman Catholic. As a former RC, I am deeply concerned over what seems to be an evangelical fervor in favor of it—despite some troubling practices and beliefs of the filmmaker….If the Gospel message is clearly communicated in the movie, then the Lord will use it to His glory no matter what its filmmakers believe, but what about the public bed-fellowshipping between Roman Catholics and true believers?…May we be vigilant not to unwittingly unravel what so many Reformers sacrificed their lives for….I am fervently praying for Mel and Jim [Caviezel].…May we stand like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in these last days. Dear Dave Hunt,

I am grieving that you have dropped my name from your mailing list—but I know it’s my own fault. But wounded and feeling sorry for myself, I said, “And I contacted so many people to send for The Berean Call paper! I read A Woman Rides the Beast  twice! I read TBC the minute it [arrived] in my mailbox—all the way through! Why did they stop my ‘Spiritual Food of the Oregon Variety’?”…I looked up the last paper I received—May 2003!…The reason you took me off your list was clearly stated in the issue and I did not return the renewal form! (Our beloved son went to be with the Lord in April 2003.) But now I realize you did not drop me because I’m an old grandma and other reasons Satan tries to make us believe….I have learned a lesson. God’s laborers are worthy and need to be supported. Please forgive me for not encouraging you and letting you know that I treasure the articles on Calvinism and Catholicism….I love all of you who are helping Dave Hunt in the office in [whatever way] it takes to put out that wonderful paper and the great books. The Berean Call:

I cannot thank you enough for strictly adhering to the Word of God. Our church…seems to be following the “user-friendly” approach….The lack of reverence is appalling!…Our youth today have no concept of learning a “sermon” in a hymn. That seems to have been erased forever. Your “News Alert” in the March issue was very enlightening and is very similar to what is happening in our church. We’ve had the “40-days seminar,” home meetings, and are following up with “dessert” meetings to help form another fund drive for the completion of the sanctuary, which will be called the “auditorium.” JH (OR)

Dear Friends,

I guess I kinda knew 40-50 years ago that America would fall some day in the future, but you hope that you will never live to see it. I have never seen this country fall so rapidly in so many ways—it shows that Christian believers are not praying as they ought. Thank you so much for your faithfulness in service to Him. Keep on keepin’on—time’s short! CC (NY)

Dear Mr. Hunt,

I have been locked up for eight years and have read the Bible and engaged in discipleship studies and read many Christian books during this time. About three-and-a-half years ago, I ran across a book in the chapel library by John Piper. I read the book and really liked it and bought another by Mr. Piper. At the time, I didn’t realize how unbiblical the doctrine was that he held to, and I was impressed with some of the other aspects of his book. As time went on, I started struggling with the doctrine of election, etc….A lot of anger and bitterness was getting into my heart through the books I read from John Piper….Then I heard [a radio program] mention your book, What Love Is This?, and I bought it…I believe it’s been one of the very best books I’ve ever read….I thank you for your love and obedience to Christ, and the courage it must have taken to write this very necessary and controversial book.  MO (prisoner, AR)

Mr. Hunt,

I just wanted to write and say that my father-in-law is quite a devoted follower of yours, so much so, that he is willing to lay aside the clear teachings of
Scripture for what you have to say [On the contrary, we urge all not to accept our opinion, but to be Bereans]. For example, in your book, What Love Is This?, you say that Acts:13:48 is not the correct translation in the Geneva or the KJV Bible. However, if you will read other translations…they are rendered the same way, and not only this, but also all commentaries and word dictionaries render the passage using “ordained” or “appointed” in the verse [See Debating Calvinism in Resource Pages for response to this charge]….I would like to suggest that you enter into a seminary, and it really does not matter which one, and get some formal training in biblical interpretation, for obviously the most liberal seminary will find your views extremely radical.
