Nuggets from “Judgment Day: Islam, Israel, and the Nations” by Dave Hunt

[The late] Jerry Falwell declared on 60 Minutes that Muhammad was a terrorist, and, as Franklin Graham has also said, Islam is “evil and wicked” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04rpb0iVFmU). For those remarks, Christianity Today rebuked them, saying that “Islam would not have become the second largest world religion if it were…as thoroughly evil as these comments suggest” (Christianity Today, December 9, 2002, p. 28). So evil can’t grow and prosper, as Islam has done, with the sword? Jesus said something about the “broad way” and Solomon, about “a way that seemeth right unto a man,” both of which lead to destruction.

In an article titled “Allah Does Not Belong to Islam,” Hank Hanegraaff’s Christian Research Journal declared: “Allah is the God Arabic-speaking Christians worship. The Arabic Bible is replete with the word Allah, beginning with Genesis and ending with Revelation. Jesus Christ is even called the son of Allah in the Arabic Scriptures….Allah is simply the word or term for God in another language [Arabic]…equivalent to…English God…French Dieu…Spanish Dios….We can join our Arab brothers and sisters in Christ who often say ‘Allah be praised!’” (Helen Louise Herndon, CRJI, vol. 25, no.1 (2002).

Some Christian leaders, in their eagerness to placate Muslims, mouth the most outrageous nonsense under the umbrella of “scholarship.” In fact, “Allah” is not a generic term but the name, as we have seen, of a particular pagan deity – the chief of the idols in the ancient “Ka’aba. The generic word for “God” is ilah, found throughout the Qur’an, as in “Allah! There is no Ilah save him….Allah is only one Ilah” (Surahs 2:255; 4:171; 6:102;10:69-70, etc.). The confession one must make or die - “La ilaha i’ Allah, Muhammadan Rasoulu Allah” – declares that there is “No ilah but Allah” (Ibid., 5:73).
