What Love Is This?

Hardcover edition suitable for use as a text book.

Discussions with many people around the world reveal that multitudes of sincere, Bible-believing Christians are "Calvinists" only by default. Thinking that the only choice is between Calvinism with its doctrine of eternal security and Arminianism with its falling away, and confident that salvation cannot be lost because of Christ's promise to keep eternally those who believe in Him, they therefore consider themselves to be Calvinists.

It takes only a few simple questions to discover the fact that most of those who regard themselves as Calvinists are largely unaware of what John Calvin and his early followers of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries actually believed and practiced. Nor do they fully understand what most of today's leading Calvinists believe.

While there are disputed variations of this doctrine, among its chief proponents (whom we quote extensively in context) there is general agreement on certain core beliefs. Multitudes who believe they understand Calvinism will be shocked to discover its Roman Catholic roots and Calvin's grossly un-Christian behavior as the "Protestant Pope" of Geneva, Switzerland.

Most shocking of all, however, Calvinism's misrepresentation of God who "is love." It is our prayer that this book will enable readers to examine more carefully the vital issues involved and to follow God's Holy Word and not man.

What's changed since the last edition?

What Love Is This? by Dave Hunt has been reissued with a brand new, expanded index. The inside text has remained basically unchanged with the exception of a few places where first names were added for identification, a couple footnote corrections were made, and a few punctuation errors were corrected. The big change in this book is the exhaustive index, which is a great improvement over the first two editions. Dave created this index as one that he would be able to use himself when he is at speaking engagements and needs to find an answer quickly. You will enjoy perusing the index all by itself to discover facts about Calvinism, Roman Catholicism, Martin Luther, etc.

I haven't found a resource

I haven't found a resource to be more helpful than WLIT. I would highly recommend it to anyone searching for the truth to what I found to be a theology of the mind with little left for the heart. I am thrilled to be out of Calvinism and with a heart full of God's love once again.

Dave Hunt illustrates,

Dave Hunt illustrates, beyond any doubt, using the scriptures, that Calvinism is not only - NOT found in the Bible, but that the Bible MUST be altered and rewritten, to accommodate the Calvinist's DESIRE for a God that shows His infinite love and mercy, by NOT making His infinite love and mercy available to all! True believers know, and trust in, a completely different Jesus. If "the word is God" (Jn 1:1), and "faith comes by hearing the word of God" (Rom 10:17), as the scripture teaches, then wouldn't Calvinism be attempting to render God's word impotent, of its saving power? Let alone, attempting to render Jesus' (God in the flesh - Jn 1:14) own words as impotent, and incapable of saving those who heard His words? After all, Calvin taught that it is God who chooses some to heaven and some to hell, whom apparently the word cannot reach or save, regardless if it came out of the mouth of God Himself. Yet supposedly the same God who cannot save with His words, can speak the world into existence! Oh, the contradictions of Calvin. Sir Patrick

I have only read a few

I have only read a few chapters into this book, but what I have read has been both insightful and disturbing. There really is no arguing facts - Dr. Hunt uses Calvin's own words, and those of his followers (such as C.H. Spurgeon) to contradict their own selves. If you know someone, as I do, who is either a family member or friend that practices this theology, I would strongly recommend reading this book. You cannot force anyone to believe what is in here, but with an open mind and heart, and according to Scripture, you cannot help but to. In Christ, MARINE -- "What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law:" - Romans 7:7a

Just finished reading WLIT?

Just finished reading WLIT? and it was wonderful! Many years ago I was under a 4 pointer who graduated from Dallas and boy did it cause me to backslide! I even stopped praying so I could be consistent w/ calvinism. Preachers beware! Calvinsim is making a comeback and you need this book to help refute it. Thanks Dave and don't let them tell you that you don't know Calvin. I believe you do. Pastor Tim

I just started reading "What

I just started reading "What Love Is This?" and I am amazed at how much it is helping me to grow in my knowledge and understanding of what Calvinism is! This book has opened my eyes to how huge the issue of Calvinism really is and how careful we as Christians need to be about living by God's word and not by the word of mere men. BonnieJean
