What, then, of the verses that say we must be baptized to be saved? What verses? There is not a single one in the Bible! Yes, Mark:16:16 says, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved,” but that doesn’t say that baptism is an essential part of salvation—only that it should accompany salvation. Saved people are the ones who get baptized. In fact, the rest of the verse says, “but he that believeth not shall be damned.” Nowhere in the Bible does it say that he who is not baptized shall be damned; much less does it warn us that believing is not enough, by stating, “If you only believe but don’t get baptized you are lost.”

"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned."

Mark:16:16
