To be tempted is not a sin (i.e., to be presented with a situation or circumstance that appeals to our innate appetites – James:1:12). Sin doesn’t take place until the mind begins to dwell upon the temptation and yield to it (James:1:13-15). The Lord Jesus was tempted by everything that could possibly appeal to us, but He did not yield to the temptation. He did not allow His mind to dwell on impure things. He was “yet without sin” (Hebrews:4:15), “Who did not sin, neither was guile found in his mouth” (1 Peter:2:22). —TBC

“But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” —James:1:14-15
