The perceived differences between the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament are mainly the result of the presumptions we bring to the Scriptures rather than a natural interpretation of the same. For example, we see God’s grace and mercy extended to Rahab and her family, even though her origin would forever preclude her entry into the nation of Israel. The same can be stated of Ruth the Moabitess. Indeed, the Old Testament Scriptures are full of examples of God acting in grace – overriding His pronouncements and showing His mercy. —TBC

“And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father’s household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.”  —Joshua:6:25
