Consider the example of a potter who molds a perfect vase, decorates it with a beautiful glaze, and very carefully fires it so that at the end of the firing process it emerges from the kiln perfect in every aspect. He then places it on a shelf, where there is the possibility of it falling unless it is so securely bound that it becomes impossible to fall. In like manner, Adam and Eve were created perfect, but the Lord chose to not “bind” them in such a manner as to make it impossible for them to fall into sin. We do have free will. —TBC
