The Holy Spirit indwells us from the moment of salvation (Romans:8:9; 1 Corinthians:12:13). Second Peter 1:3–8 tells us that we have been given all things that pertain unto life and godliness. The newly inducted soldier is given his uniform, helmet, rifle, pack, inoculations, and everything that pertains to his life as a soldier. Does that mean that he immediately uses everything with soldierly proficiency? Of course not! He needs training, he needs to build familiarity, and he needs experiences that cause him to use efficiently what he has been given. This is much like the Christian life.
"And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."
