I have seen both positive and negative results in home churches. There is a danger of a strong personality dominating a home church and moving it into areas that appear cultic. On the other hand, I have seen groups who have been strengthened and encouraged by their experience. Peter wrote in 1 Peter:5:2–3 that the elders were to “feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock.”
"Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine."
