TBC Today

Terrence McKenna, who succeeded Timothy Leary as the foremost champion of drugs for the purpose of supposedly “raising consciousness,” has traveled the world sampling psychoactive plants of all kinds and documenting their effects. He discovered that all of these substances were able to open contact with non-physical entities who, says McKenna, “are trying to teach us something.” Indeed, that appears to be their insidious purpose.

Moreover, the philosophy they communicate conforms precisely to the four lies with which the Bible says the serpent (Satan) deceived Eve in the Garden of Eden: 1) God is not personal but a Force; 2) There is no death; we won’t die but survive in the spirit world (or get recycled in reincarnation); 3) We are evolving into gods; and 4) That process can be accelerated through initiation into secret knowledge with a dark and light side. There is no explaining away as mere coincidence this common message or its conformity to what the serpent taught Eve. On the contrary, it provides absolute proof of both the reality of such spirit communications and their true identity as demonic messengers of Satan indoctrinating mankind with what the Bible calls “doctrines of devils.”

The New Testament comes down severely against something it calls “sorcery.” The Greek word translated as “sorcery” in English is pharmakeia—from which, of course, we get our word for pharmacy, or drugs. We are told in the Bible that this practice of contacting the spirit world through drugs will permeate civilization in the last days. The world will refuse to repent of it and, as a result of God’s judgment, will fall: “Neither repented they of…their sorceries…for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived…for without [excluded from heaven] are sorcerers” (Revelation:9:21Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

; 18:23; 22:15). Paul warned:

Now the Spirit [of God] speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience [2] seared with a hot iron. (1 Timothy:4:1-2 [1] Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; [2] Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

)

Among the “doctrines of devils” taught by these seducing spirits are the other two theories propounded to escape God’s judgment after death. We mentioned them briefly in the first chapter. Let us consider first of all what is commonly called “spirit survival.” Some of these communicating entities claimed to be the spirits of persons who once lived on earth and died centuries or even thousands of years ago. They offer as “proof” bits of information known only to the dead person and the living relative or friend to whom the “spirit” now speaks through a medium. Of course, that does not provide foolproof identification of the “spirit” as being that of the deceased. On the contrary, we know these are “demons” impersonating deceased persons because they promote Satan’s basic lies given to Eve in the Garden. Specifically, spirit survival comes from Satan’s assertion, “Ye shall not surely die” (Genesis:3:4And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

).

No wonder, then, that the Bible repeatedly forbids any attempt to communicate with the dead (Leviticus:20:6And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.

; Deuteronomy:18:9-12 [9] When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. [10] There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, [11] Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. [12] For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

). Their spirits are either in heaven or hell, not flitting about on the so-called astral plane, communicating with those still alive on earth. Necromancy is, in fact, trafficking with demons, the very “seducing spirits” of which the Holy Spirit warns us throughout Scripture.
