Professor Charles Tart considers transpersonal psychology [1] to be spiritual psychology [1]. He has been called “one of this country’s leading scholars on transpersonal psychology [1], the psychology [1] of spiritual growth. His anthologies, Altered States of Consciousness and Transpersonal Psychologies, are generally considered classics.” Tart writes:
“Spiritual Psychologies…that show you how to grow spiritually, can be found embedded in Sufism, in various forms of Buddhism such as Zen, within traditional yogic practices…[etc.] They usually…[teach] that our true destiny is to evolve toward some higher spiritual nature….”
