Such destructive folly comes from psychology [1] and contradicts the Bible. We are exhorted, “…in lowliness of mind let each esteem other[s] better than themselves” (Philippians:2:3Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
See All... [2]
). Romans:12:3For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
See All... [3]
warns us not to think of ourselves “more highly than [we] ought to think.” Nowhere does the Bible warn us against thinking too poorly of ourselves. Samuel Yochelson, a psychiatrist, and Stanton Samenow, a clinical psychologist, spent six-and-a-half years investigating hundreds of hardened criminals and could not find even one who did not think highly of himself even when plotting a crime.
