Numerous studies by secular psychologists and psychiatrists have demonstrated that the higher one’s self-esteem, the more likely one is to be immoral, violent, and prone to trample on the rights of others. The self-esteem movement is being indicted with having caused much harm. Newsweek’s cover announced its feature article in large letters: “THE CURSE OF SELF-ESTEEM: WHAT’S WRONG WITH THE FEEL GOOD MOVEMENT.” A feature story in newspapers across America by a professor/researcher was titled “Note to California: Drop self-esteem, self-control is most important….” Based upon years of research, the author declares: “If we could cross out self-esteem and put in self-control, kids would be better off and society in general would be much better off.”
