It is as though we have fallen in love with love, we praise praise, and worship worship. The emotion is being worked up, but there is no content—just feelings without reason. True worship and praise require an appreciation of who Christ is and what He has done, which the old hymns present with deep understanding. This depth is largely missing from today’s lyrics.
