Dawkins thinks that matter itself is the product of a primitive “natural selection” among atoms in which the most stable molecules survived. This is pure speculation and a form of Darwinism that Darwin himself never anticipated. But what other choice does Dawkins have, as long as he excludes God from consideration by very definition?
