Yes, Christians can and do benefit from the wisdom of this world in some fields—physics, chemistry, medicine, and other secular disciplines—so why not from psychology [1]? There are a number of reasons. To begin with, it would be ludicrous to speak of Christian physics or Christian chemistry because these vocations have nothing to do with Christianity. But psychology [1], unlike any other profession, claims to deal with the very matters which the Bible deals with: the soul and spiritual side of man. That claim is legitimate only if the Bible is insufficient.
