Yes, Christians can and do benefit from the wisdom of this world in some fields—physics, chemistry, medicine, and other secular disciplines—so why not from psychology? There are a number of reasons. To begin with, it would be ludicrous to speak of Christian physics or Christian chemistry because these vocations have nothing to do with Christianity. But psychology, unlike any other profession, claims to deal with the very matters which the Bible deals with: the soul and spiritual side of man. That claim is legitimate only if the Bible is insufficient.
