Tom: Thanks, Gary. You’re listening to Search the Scriptures Daily, a program in which we encourage everyone who desires to know God’s truth to look to God’s Word for all that is essential for salvation and living one’s life in a way that is pleasing to Him. Judgment Day! Islam, Israel, and the Nations is the title of Dave Hunt’s latest book, and in this segment of our program we have had an on-going discussion of the book and related events in the news. We’re currently in chapter 8, which is titled “Facing Hard Facts.”Dave, you mentioned the late Yasser Arafat, who is perhaps the most unique character on the stage of modern history, and not because of what he did as much as how the world has honored him. How does so obvious an evil man, a mass murderer of innocent women and children, how does a person like that receive the Nobel Peace Prize?
Dave: Well, Tom, it’s quite simple. You can imagine Osama Bin Laden when they catch him and put him before a tribunal and they find him guilty of his horrible crimes, and then he says, “But I promise you, scouts honor, I’ll be a good boy from now on if you let me off.” And they say, “Oh, wonderful! Oh, we’ll give you the Nobel Peace Prize. We’ll make you a great statesman for peace.” That’s basically what happened. Arafat should have been killed in Lebanon when the Israelis had him trapped. They would have done so. But it was Reagan who insisted, “Let this mass murderer, the worst terrorist on the face of the earth…”
Tom: Yeah, give our listeners some background, if they’re not familiar. Why are we calling this guy an evil man? I mean, some may think, “Well, wait a minute, he was a fine statesman.”
Dave: Well, Arafat and the PLO, they held the record—you know, we had four planes go down with the Twin Towers. They destroyed 40 airplanes. They had the record for the largest number of aircraft—the widest variety, including passenger ships, embassies, and conciliates all over the world; the largest ransom ever paid (five million dollars) paid by Ruth Thompson; the largest number of hostages ever taken at one time—300…
Tom: Now, this is all the PLO specifically?
Dave: Right. The PLO, Arafat. They were so bad in Jordan that King Hussein turned his Bedouin troops on them and chased them out. He killed more Palestinians—that is, PLO—in that one engagement than Israel has killed over all the years of trying to stop the suicide bombers. And yet there were no complaints about that. So he drove them into Lebanon. What they did there—they killed hundreds of thousands. They left more than 100,000 young women pregnant, with emotional breakdowns, and so forth, because of what had happened. They would drag the people off the street, strap them to a hospital bed, and command the nurses to drain every drop of blood from their bodies in order to get blood for transfusions for their men, and they would stack the corpses like cord wood in the hallway. I mean, this man is so evil that it’s beyond comprehension, and we give you all the data in the book with documentation, and so forth.
Tom: Dave, you know, I’m thinking this goes back to even 1972, the Olympics. Wasn’t the PLO behind, really, the assassination, the murders of the Israeli—they were wrestlers, right?
Dave: Right, 11. Eleven were killed. That was the Black September group under Arafat’s control. We have radio conversations going back and forth, and not only that, but other terrorist operations when they killed our ambassador in Sudan. We have radio conversations going back and forth when Arafat is telling them what to do. The PLO gave Abu Dawood, who was the master mind behind this, they gave him the Palestinian Culture Award for what he did. It was Gaddafi who gave them five million dollars reward for killing the Israeli athletes.
But it goes back even before then. His great uncle was Haj Amin al-Husseini. The British had appointed him Grand Mufti of Jerusalem in the 1920s. The man was a terrorist, evil as can be, and he was the mentor and model for Arafat, and Arafat was part of his terrorist group back in those days.Arafat said, “Peace for us is the destruction of Israel.” And as we’ve explained on this program, there is not an Arab map in the entire the world that shows the existence of Israel. The logo for the PLO has Palestine, so-called, and includes everything. Israel doesn’t even exist as far as they are concerned, and yet the world is forcing Israel to make peace with these people who’ve said, “Peace for us is the annihilation of Israel.” They have said this many, many times.
But anyway, Arafat was driven into Tunisia. They let him escape to Tunisia, and he was given asylum there. Then he wrote a letter—I’m still responding to “Well, how did this guy get a Nobel Peace Prize…”
Dave: …he wrote a letter, just as I suggested that Osama bin Laden would do, you know, standing before the judge, and he wrote a letter to Israel saying he had renounced terrorism, he wanted to make peace with Israel, he would recognize Israel’s existence, that he would see that the clause in the PLO charter that calls for the annihilation of Israel would be removed, and Israel accepted this promise from [an] incurable liar with a history of nothing but murder and double-cross. In face, the Arabs themselves didn’t trust Arafat, but Israel was forced to trust him. And he got involved in this peace process in negotiations with Yitzhak Rabin, 1993, the Oslo Accords, and they were given the Nobel Prize together, because they had supposedly made peace.
Tom: You mentioned earlier the 1972 Munich Olympics, and so on. But you also point out here…again, it shows you—I don’t know if it’s irony, or if it’s stupidity, or…
Tom: …insanity, that may be it. But the 2004 Olympics in Greece—what team got the greatest applause? And I watched the marching through—this was the Palestinians.
Dave: Incredible, Tom. They’re cheered more than anyone else as they march in. How can the world cheer these people? Because of the propaganda that says these Palestinians are descended from the original Palestinians. That land belongs to them, and the Jews have come in and are occupying their land instead of the world recognizing the terrorism and the suicide bombers who target innocent women and children, and the thousands that have been killed and the many thousands injured. No, Israel is being so vicious when they retaliate and try to defend themselves!
Tom, I cannot explain it. It is a blindness…well, yes, we have a bit of an explanation. It’s called anti-Semitism, and we’ve talked about that. It is Satanic. Satan must destroy the Jews. Otherwise, explain why they are hated and persecuted and have been down through history, slaughtered like no other people. And today anti-Semitism is on the rise again in our university campuses. The Presbyterian Church, as you know, is leading a movement among churches to divest themselves from investments in any company that does business with Israel. They are trying to put Israel out of business. They’re trying to destroy Israel. Why? God gave that land to these people. It is their land. The Palestinians, so-called, who are not Palestinians (that was the land of Canaan) who are abusing and attacking and terrorizing the Israelis… Israel, when they were given that tiny bit of land, 13 percent of what the world had promised them in the 1922 Declaration of Principles and the 1919 Paris Peace Conference, Israel finally, UN Resolution 181, got 13 percent. Israel was happy…well, I don’t know that they were happy, but they were content to take whatever they could get. And you know that the United Nations would never vote them anything today, so it was just when the nations of the world had a brief twinge of conscience because of the Holocaust that they voted this. Israel didn’t attack anybody. They didn’t complain. It was the Arabs who attacked the Israelis. They insisted that they would have it all. And they attacked, publicly declaring that they would exterminate these Jews. In fact, they have to, otherwise Islam is a false religion, Mohammed is a false prophet, and Allah is not the true God, because Islam teaches that that land belongs to the Arabs, the Muslims, and that they will conquer Israel.
Tom: Dave, in your book—again, for those who may have just joined us, the book is Judgment Day! Islam, Israel, and the Nations. But you have a section here in chapter eight that’s called “Training the Next Generation for ‘Peace’”, and “peace” you have in quotation marks. I’ll just mention some of these things: You talk about text books in Islamic schools. For example, textbooks in Syria today lead pupils to the “inevitable conclusion that all Jews must be annihilated.” The Egyptian textbook Studies in Theology: Traditions and Morals explains that the Qur’an encourages the faithful to “perform jihad and behead the infidels.” I remember seeing images when they captured a headquarters in Saudi Arabia: they were in this apartment, they go to the refrigerator, open the freezer compartment, and there’s a severed head! I mean, this is like…it’s absolutely stunning to, I’m sure, every Western viewer, but this is all part of the Qur’an; this is part of their teaching.
Dave: Tom, it marks these terrorists as Muslims, and this is what they’re supposed to do to pagans. It says…the Qur’an—and we give you the footnotes—the Qur’an declares that they must perform jihad and behead the infidels, and that’s right out of the Qur’an. So, Muhammad said, “Whoever relinquishes his faith, kill him.” And the Qur’an says those who are not yet Muslims, if they refuse to become Muslims, they must be beheaded.
Now, I haven’t read that they have offered the hostages that option, so they’re violating Islamic law. They’re supposed to offer the option. You either confess there’s no god but Allah, Muhammad is his messenger, his prophet, or we behead you. So they’re simply following the Qur’an.
Tom: You list—again, going back to this section “Training the Next Generation for ‘Peace’”— what about these young Muslim children? From kindergarten on, you quote from Palestinian TV which carries a program like Sesame Street called The Children’s Club. But they’re basically taught to sing songs, anti-Semitic—I mean, it just seems far worse than that. These are murderous concepts and ideas that these very young children are being indoctrinated.
Dave: I know a former Palestinian; he was a terrorist, and he came to know Christ as his Savior. He now loves Israel, and he says it was a shock to him to find out that everything he had been taught about Israel was a lie, and about the Jews. But he says that nursery rhymes were about heads rolling and severed limbs and blood and slaughter. These are the nursery rhymes that these children are raised on. I don’t know what you can do with a whole generation that has been raised in that way, but this is the situation.
Tom: Mm-hmm. Well, by the grace of God, this individual that you just referred to, he changed. But still, when you’re talking about the masses, Dave, one of the things we’ve been mentioning on this program is somehow, some way, to get this into the heads of not just our listeners, but those who have maybe some interaction with Muslims. I mean, this ought to be an embarrassment.
Dave: Tom, there should be an international cry of outrage against what Islam is, what it stands for, what it’s history has been, the slaughter of millions—and I’m not exaggerating—millions and millions down through history, and what they are doing today: terrorism all over the world. They are killing them in Sudan. They've killed about two million. They’re killing them in Indonesia, in Nigeria, all over the world. Who are the terrorists in the Philippines? Those are Muslims. This is Islam! Now, what we had recently in Paris and throughout about 300 towns in France, you didn’t see in the papers or hear on CNN any reference to Islam. This is Islam! This is a new invasion of Europe, and they keep to themselves in their enclaves. They do not want to be integrated into society. They want to have their own laws, their own customs, and when they get a large enough group together to control an area to vote in their people on the city council, or as mayor, or the school board, or whatever, they are going to do it. They will use democratic means to destroy our freedoms that we have under democracy, and this is what it was about. Suddenly it all came to a head and out it came, but it’s been festering there for years. There are areas where the police and firemen are afraid to go in because of the violence of these people.
Tom: Dave, the latest U.S. News & World Report had an interesting article—again, they seem to avoid the Islamic side. But I thought there was one insight that was worth noting, and that is—you know, we’re talking about textbooks and this next generation, and so on, thinking, Well, maybe because it’s a new generation they’ll throw off what the older generations had and really step into society, wherever it might be, and be productive. But they’re not; they’re drawing back. And what’s interesting about the article: it said that the newer generations are actually the more radical, even though they’ve grown up in France, England, and so on. How does that happen?
Dave: Well, Tom, at the heart of it, and we point this out all through the book, is Israel. Why Israel? We have an anti-Semitism today in America, for example, on our university campuses, in our churches. And what do they say? “Oh, we’re not anti-Semitic, we’re not against the Jews, we’re against Israel.” Okay? Now, it’s because Israel defeats the Arabs in every attack they make. It’s an embarrassment to them, and finally the imams, the mullahs, the priests, the sheikhs have been preaching, “Look, the reason you keep losing every war with Israel, in spite of the fact that Allah said he will make you triumphant in your battles against Israel, that that land belongs to you, but you keep losing every war [it’s an embarrassment to the Islamic world], the reason is you have abandoned Islam. You are not practicing true Islam. You’re not practicing what the Qur’an says. You’ve got to get back to obedience to the Qur’an.”So that is something that, whether you’re being raised in France, or in America, or Germany or wherever it is, this hangs over your head. Islam is being defeated by these Jews, which the Qur’an describes as apes and monkeys. And they should not win any battles at all, so you’ve got to get back to real Islam. And the young people are picking up on that: “We are going to be the generation that will begin to really practice Islam as it should be according to the Qur’an, and we are the ones who will defeat Israel.” But not only defeat Israel, Tom—as you know, Islam teaches that it must take over the entire world.
So one of the messages of this book is: This is not—terrorism is not because of a few fanatics, this is Islam itself, and we better get back to understanding that.”And now the underlying thesis of this book, Tom, is Israel is the major subject of the Bible. Just look at it. Most of the pages of the Bible are taken up with Israel, and God says specific things about Israel. He tells them—He warns them they would be chased out of their land if they disobeyed Him; they would be scattered throughout the world, hated, persecuted, killed like no other people, but in the last days He would bring them back. He would make Jerusalem a cup of trembling, a burden of the entire world, which it is today. Their last days would be better than the beginning. There would be not only a full restoration of Israel, but it would be perfection. They would never disobey God again.
Now, either the Bible is true or false. If what the Bible says about Israel is false, and this is what many churches are saying: “Oh, Israel has been replaced by the Cchurch, and so forth.” If what the Bible says about Israel is not true, then every synagogue and every Christian church on this earth ought to shut its doors and acknowledge that what it teaches is not true, because you couldn’t believe the rest of the Bible if what it says about Israel is not true, okay?
But if what the Bible says about Israel is true, and about the judgment that God is going to bring upon the nations for what they are doing to His people Israel, then the nations better repent! It would be wonderful if it would start with President Bush and with the United States right now.
Tom: Well, Dave, as you see, the United States, the Senate and others, they’re wanting to withdraw from all of these areas. So I don’t know how that’s going to affect things.
Dave: Well, I don’t think the majority will vote for that. But, Tom, we’ve had a very difficult situation in the world, in Afghanistan, in Iraq, and in Israel. What is the solution? The only solution is you better get back to the Bible, because God lays it all out. He told us what would happen, and He warned that if we disobey, if the world defies Him—and in fact they are defying Him. They have divided the land of Israel; they have taken 87 percent of it away, and they keep insisting Israel give up more. We just forced Israel to disengage, to abandon Gaza, and Condoleezza Rice, who believes that the church has replaced Israel, she said, “That’s a first good step. Now we’ve got to deal with the West Bank and with Jerusalem.” So Israel bit by bit is being deprived—I mean, they’ve been deprived already of most of it. The world is defying God, and judgment—His judgment is going to come, or the Bible is not true, and we had better wake up to that fact.
