A typical brochure from another source offers “Wholistic Therapeutic Massage by: Fran Rees, SP (Sisters of Providence). … [who] blends this ancient healing art of massage into ministry for the mind, body and spirit … [offering complete] understanding of one’s body, mind and spirit. …” The brochure goes on to promise that wholistic massage enhances spiritual development. …” Obviously something more is going on than mere massage of the body!

The brochure explains that “Fran’s office is located at The Hermitage in Indianapolis… a [Franciscan] healing center dedicated to the spiritual, emotional, intellectual and professional growth of people. Fran … is certified in … spirituality and worship.” How and by whom does one become “certified in spirituality”? The hype continues: “Fran has facilitated numerous workshops dealing with topics of spirituality, psychology, stress reduction, yoga and nutrition. Through her ministry in Wholistic Therapeutic Massage, she continues her interest in helping people develop body, mind and spirit.”
