Nuggets from Cosmos—The New Meaning of the Word “Scientist”

There has been a change in the meaning of the word “scientist.” Today, does it include all bona fide, thoroughly competent scientists? Certainly not included, when speaking to atheists, are any of the more than 700 who have signed their names to a statement declaring that evolution is not a scientific theory and that they oppose it on those grounds. At the top of the list is the statement, “We are skeptical of claims for the ability of random mutation and natural selection to account for the complexity of life. Careful examination of the evidence for Darwinian theory should be encouraged.”
