But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.                                                                   —2 Corinthians:11:3

If Satan cannot come in like a lion, he tries to enter like a serpent. His aim is deception and his goal is destruction. What do we do against such an adversary? James counsels us to: submit to God, resist the devil; and draw near to God (Jam:4:6-8). Peter exhorts us to be sober and vigilant (1 Pet:5:8). Paul warns, don’t be deceived by the deceiver (2 Cor:11:3), who uses the deceitfulness of sin (Heb:3:13). May the Lord keep us from his destructive deceit today.                                                                                                        —Rex Trogdon

Sin will take you farther than you want to go;
Keep you longer than you want to stay,
Cost you more than you want to pay.
