Scripture specifically declares that the change into immortality "in the twinkling of an eye" will occur when Christ returns to raise the bodies of dead Christians from the grave and transform the bodies of the living. He will take these now immortal saints to heaven for that glorious marriage, then return with His bride at His side to intervene personally to rescue Israel, destroy His enemies, and establish His millennial kingdom. One would think that such a victorious scenario would bring joyful anticipation to Christians. Strangely enough, however, those who espouse such beliefs are denigrated for adopting an "eschatology of defeat."
