Many individuals, whether religious or not, are capable of meritorious works. As Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13, “…and though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not love, it profits me nothing.” In other words, if we do many acts of kindness and yet do not share the true gospel with individuals, we have not helped them in the area where the most help is needed. —TBC
