Making it Up as They Go Along

Prophecies have been made concerning God taking the money of the wicked and releasing it to believers for the advance of His kingdom. These prophecies have been uttered by a number of individuals and none have come true. In his recent “Global Harvest Ministries Newsletter” (July-Sept. 2004), C. Peter Wagner commented on the failure of these prophecies.

“...since 1992 we have been hearing from God through respected prophets that He desires to release great amounts of wealth to His people for the advance of His kingdom....Why, then, hasn’t it happened as yet? My answer is that first God was probably waiting until the government of the church got into place on the foundation of apostles and prophets, which did occur beginning in 2001.”

The article goes on to explain that the Wealth of the Wicked is necessary to accomplish the work of God. In contrast, and according to the Scriptures, “The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up” (1 Samuel:2:7). The apostle Paul acknowledged, “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Philippians:4:12). Paul wasn’t waiting for a bank transfer from the accounts of the wicked, neither should we.
