For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. Galatians:5:6
This verse tells us that being religious or not being religious are both equally empty. What God is really looking for is a “faith which worketh by love”. Notice the motive by which faith works. It is by love. We love the Lord Jesus and want to please Him. It is the Spirit of God that sheds this love of God to us. It is our love for Him that rules in our lives, exercising us to obey Him in loving others and in loving the lost.
—Harold G. Smith
My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou are mine;
For Thee all the follies of sin I resign;
My gracious Redeemer, my Saviour art Thou;
If ever I love Thee, my Jesus 'tis now. —A. J. Gordon
