 DAILY READINGS: Exodus 18; Psalms 56-57; Acts:10:1-23

…when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments. 2 Timothy:4:13

A teacher at Sakeji School in the 1960s used to tell us that if she were taken to prison she would take with her a French Bible and the complete works of Shakespeare. We tried in vain to imagine what crime she might be capable of committing. In retrospect most of her pupils would also concur with the value both she and Paul placed on the Word of God. We watch as men and women receive their first ever copy of God’s Word, embracing it with tears of joy. Truly this is not just a living Book; it is life-giving. —Marilyn MacMullen

Blessèd Bible, pure and true, guide me all my journey through;

Heav’nly light within me shine, help me make Thy precepts mine!

— Fanny Crosby
