May 9 - Choice Gleanings

DAILY READINGS: Numbers 20; Proverbs 17; James 1

But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee. Job:12:7

Each year in early spring, where we live, we hear the call of the shining cuckoo. This tiny migratory bird, which is rarely seen, has a beautiful whistle, often dropping its note at the end of its call. When rain is approaching it will continuously drop its note. Who instilled such knowledge in this tiny bird? Creation is astounding and we can only marvel at sparrows searching for crumbs, every animal that staggers to its feet and takes its first drink, and tiny birds breaking free from their shells. Each of these testifies to the greatness of our amazing Creator. How can you say there is no God? —Janet Fleming

So today as I look at such wonders, He truly is God over all,

And though I can’t fathom His greatness, I know He will hear when I call.
