"Creationists push school districts to teach a six-day, 144-hour understanding of creation. Then when young people raised in fundamentalism go to college, they suddenly confront scientific reality that challenges what they were told at church. Some biology professor points out that there are 3,700 species of cockroaches. That statistic alone should keep biblical inerrantists awake at night when they remember that Noah’s family had to catch two of everything to bring on the ark."

--Pastor Brett Younger, "God and Science," "The Baptist Standard," Excerpt, 8/11/06.

[TBC: Pastor Younger seeks to defend his integration of evolution and the Bible with cliches. Most Creationists are not pushing "school districts to teach a six-day, 144-hour understanding of creation." The goal is equal opportunity, knowing that "truth" will outscore pseudo science every time. Secondly, Creationists have long recognized the existence of "micro-evolution," or "adaptation." Simply put, God in His grace and mercy allows organisms to adapt in order to survive. Nevertheless, "cockroaches" do not change into other organisms, but simply adapt to their environments. Consequently, the idea of Noah bringing along 7,400 cockroaches (2 of each) is simply a foolish remark fit to take its place alongside others mouthed by those engaged in wearing out their hammers on the anvil of biblical truth.]
