Mark Burnett's new dating show

Reality TV hitmaker Mark Burnett is launching a dating show. Fox has greenlit a new series from the Emmy-winning producer of The Voice and Survivor that has a format inspired by online dating apps.

Here’s the pitch: “Set in the Caribbean Islands, the series will take the instant ‘yes or no’ connection of modern digital romance to the next level. Single men and women will match up, based on their instant chemistry, but the real soap opera will unfold when these budding couples discover whether or not they have the compatibility to make their relationships last.”

We’re told that the show will mirror Tinder in that each couple is paired based on a very quick first impression, but the singles do meet IRL.

“I am so happy to be making my first dating series with Fox,” Burnett said. “It’s a genre that attracts a wide audience and our series gives a very fresh perspective that mirrors real life.”

That’s all the available information for now. Further details will be announced at a later date.

[TBC: The Reality Show genre, of which Burnett is a pioneer, is based (to be blunt) on the voyeurism of viewers drawn to the sensational, sexual themes, and dysfunctional people. Regardless of the sensual nature of Burnett's latest TV project, his endorsement is now becoming a desired "thumbs up" for Christian conferences and events. Burnett writes in an op ed, "We have worshipped with almost all denominations, from the oldest African-American church in Washington, D.C., to Hispanic charismatic communities in Miami and Chicago. We’ve visited small Churches in rural America, and churches of many thousands that meet in former basketball arenas. We have made appearances at Christian music concerts attended by as many as 45,000 screaming fans, and have collaborated with incredibly innovative Christian thinkers like those behind the YouVersion Bible app, which has been downloaded on 175 million devices. We've spoken at several prominent Christian colleges, and we’ve met faith leader after faith leader responsible for movements of millions in dozens of countries." Through all of this, as we have reported, the truth remains that Burnett and Downey are far from biblical Christianity. See: https://www.thebereancall.org/content/bible-mini-series.]
