Just over a generation ago, America held to a Judeo/Christian worldview, morals, and ethics. That is not to say a majority were Christians, they weren't, but there was a general belief in God, sin, ethics, and virtuous behavior. A Hindu gave the Beatles a book on reincarnation in 1965 while filming Help! Having recently abandoned their Protestant or Roman Catholic upbringing, they began their trek to the East and evangelized with their music.

While churches were focusing on better marketing strategies, abandoning sound biblical teaching, and majoring in "user-friendly" talks, evangelists for Eastern beliefs were transforming culture. Slightly over a generation ago (1977), George Lucas's film Star Wars, steeped in Eastern mysticism, hit the big screen and launched a multi-billion dollar empire and further transformed the religious views of a high percentage of the nation, outside and inside the church, to Eastern mysticism.

Star Wars as Religion: Most Americans Say Their Spiritual Views Align with 'the Force" tells the story of the success of the transformation;

"The "Force" in Star Wars may be antithetical to Christianity, but a majority of Americans nevertheless say their own views of spirituality are similar to it, according to a new poll.

"The survey of 1,700 Americans by City Square Associates for Skylight found that a total of 56 percent of U.S adults say their views of spirituality either "somewhat" (36 percent) or "very much so" (20 percent) align with that of the Force.”

That is over half of America. There are a few churches that are diligently teaching and training their people to be missionaries to their culture. Many do not and will continue the slide away from the faith to continue reflecting the religion of the culture. Pray for their repentance.
