This is not science, but scientism. It is pure speculation, forced upon scientists by their refusal even to consider the possibility that God may exist as Creator of all—not an unreasonable idea. Nor could Jastrow, as he honestly confessed, tell us anything concrete about the origin either of matter or of life. He could no more have seen behind the “curtain” he described that hides creation from human eyes than could anyone else. Therefore, we have no reason for accepting his (or anyone else’s) speculation about what he called “the moment of creation,” even though pronounced in the name of science. By his own admission, science has nothing to offer when it comes to the origin of the universe, but speculation often speaks with “scientific authority” that is mistaken for proof.
