No matter how many and how great one’s accomplishments, when the sun eventually burns all life and matter on Earth to ashes, not even a memory will remain, nor will there be anyone left to remember. What will “worthwhile” mean then? It will mean exactly what the atheist says it means right now—nothing—unless the thinker who lived in the body and who used the brain survives the body’s death. The Apostle Paul explained this obvious fact in reasoning with unbelievers in his day: “If the dead rise not…let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we die.” This is atheism.
