Nuggets from Countdown to the Second Coming—The Ultimate Hope (Part 3) | thebereancall.org

There are Christians today who complain that those who are looking for Christ to return at any moment are “so heavenly minded that they’re no earthly good.” But that cliché has it backward. Jesus, who is our example, was the most heavenly minded Person in history—yet at the same time, He did the most earthly good. True heavenly mindedness actually makes one more useful here upon earth.

Others suggest that those who are waiting for the Rapture to take them to heaven are just sitting on their hands and doing nothing. Critics call this an “escapist mentality.” Logically, however, the deeper the conviction that time is short, the more diligent we will be to do God’s will, live for Christ, and win others for Him. This “blessed hope” of being with our Lord in heaven at any moment is in fact the greatest motivation of all for holy and victorious living. John said that everyone who has this hope “purifieth himself, even as he [Christ] is pure” (1 John:3:3).
