Padre Pio is another saint-in-the-making whom the Vatican is about to canonize. A “Prayer to Padre Pio” includes “Padre Pio, may the healings of the sick become the testimony that the Lord has invited you to join the holy company of Saints. In your kindness, please help me with my own special request. …” There are far more testimonies of occult miracles involving Padre Pio than he needs to be voted a saint. The following is a typical account:

“While I was praying, I looked at the statue. Just as it often does, it started to transform … like a bright light on it. … The statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus changes. Sometimes it is the Holy Mother, sometimes Jesus or the saints. But today, I could not make out who it was… when he got closer, there was a golden light around him. I could see him clearly. I said, ‘Padre Pio.’ He said, ‘… I want to share myself with you.’ After a while, I … asked if he would help Dorothy [a friend with cancer]. He said, ‘Yes, tell her to pray to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and to me, for three days. …’ A few days later … he came to me, and told me not to worry. … I asked about Dorothy. He said, ‘I will be with her. …’”
