A famous case revealing the power of imagination to open the door to the occult was the Philip Experiment. It has been duplicated a number of times around the world. Members of the Canadian Toronto Society of Psychical Research made up a history of a “ghost” they named Philip. They then tried to believe that “Philip” was real and sought to contact him. An entity identifying itself as Philip communicated through rappings emanating from the table around which they sat. It corrected the history they had invented, and levitated the table so forcefully that they could not hold it down and had to run around the room to keep up with it.
