De Arteaga validates occult mind-over-matter techniques by arguing that quantum physics proves that “mind-observation” affects subatomic particles. This is a myth invented by New Age physicists. Something must make contact with any object for human observation to take place. Ordinarily, light photons bounce off an object and create an image in the eye and brain. Light bouncing off a car does not move it. However, to bounce a photon off a subatomic particle in order to “observe” it is like bouncing a car off a car—so of course observation (not the observer’s mind) affects a subatomic particle.
