Here is John Avanzini (TBN’s favorite fund-raiser) on TV making false promises to entice people to give to his ministry: “If you will stay with me in this seminar, I promise you…the power of the spirit of debt will be broken in your life…a supernatural power to get wealth will be loosed into your hands.” It is the twin to the lie of Christian psychology. The one blames failings upon past traumas; the other blames a “spirit of debt.” It is not that diligence, prudence, further training, or any other practical solution is needed. One need simply rebuke and bind the “spirit of debt” and money will magically start flowing into one’s pockets!
