Legitimate questions come to mind. First of all, there are a number of expressions which have no biblical basis (in fact they contradict biblical teaching) but are associated with the idea of revival and are accepted without question. For example, Brownsville Assembly of God pastor John Kilpatrick declares with great authority: “Every minister of God in these days needs a mantle of the ‘90s. The ‘80s mantle won’t work anymore…. Even the early and mid-‘90’s mantle won’t work anymore…. You have to have a fresh mantle.” It sounds impressive, but what is this mantle? And how does it change? He doesn’t explain. It is simply accepted revival terminology.
