Catholicism says that Christ is continually being offered on its altars; the Bible says, “nor yet that he should offer himself often … but now once … hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. … So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many” (Hebrews:9:25-28). Catholicism says that the Mass is no mere commemoration of Calvary but a real and propitiatory sacrifice; the Bible says, “There is no more offering [sacrifice] for sin” (Hebrews:10:18). Catholicism says that the wafer is Christ present on its altars as sacrifice, and Catholics sit before the wafer host displayed in the monstrance, believing they are in His presence (EWTN recently challenged viewers to “spend an hour with Him in Eucharistic adoration”); the Bible says that “after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, [He] sat down on the right hand of God” (Hebrews:10:12).
