Obviously, it would be dishonest for anyone to accept the Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion who was not in complete sympathy with its purpose and the beliefs behind it. The very acceptance of the prize constitutes an endorsement of all that the prize represents. Nor can any evangelical recipient claim ignorance, for Templeton’s neopagan views have been widely published for years. Yet Billy Graham (1982), Charles Colson (1993) and Bill Bright (1996) have accepted it, joining leading Hindu, Buddhist, and Muslim recipients.
