In their eagerness to pretend either that the Reformation never occurred or that the issues raised were of no consequence, leading evangelicals suppress the truth about Roman Catholicism. Typical of the misinformation promoted to justify an unprecedented ecumenical madness is the following false statement from Charles Colson: “The Reformers, for example, assailed the corrupt practices of indulgences; today they are gone (save for the modern-day equivalent practiced by some unscrupulous television hucksters, ironically mostly Protestants, who promise healing and blessing for contributions).”
