Nuggets from Occult Invasion—The Psychologizing of Society | thebereancall.org

To enforce the remolding of youth into the world citizen of the future, the government professes its concern for the psychological well-being of the child. In The Psychological Society, Martin L. Gross laments:

“The schoolhouse has become a vibrant psychological center, staffed not only by schoolteachers trained in ‘educational psychology’ but by sixty thousand guidance workers and seven thousand school psychologists whose ‘counseling’ borders on therapy….”

What has psychology’s dominant influence in our public schools wrought? Fifty years ago the worst problems faced by schoolteachers and administrators were 1)-talking in class; 2)-chewing gum; 3)-making noise; 4)-running in halls; 5)-cutting in line; 6)-dress code violations; 7)-littering. Today they are: 1)-drug abuse; 2)-alcohol abuse; 3)-pregnancy; 4)-suicide; 5)-rape; 6)-robbery; 7)-assault. A Reader’s Digest article commented:

“Americans learned that Magic Johnson had contracted the AIDS virus, New York City schools were handing out condoms to adolescents, and a nephew of President John F. Kennedy had had sex with a woman he picked up in a bar. Each news event was about something altogether alien to contemporary culture: sin. Sin isn’t something many people spent much time worrying about in the past 25 years. But…sin…at least offered a frame of reference for behavior. When the frame was dismantled during the sexual revolution, we lost the guidewire of personal responsibility…. The United States has problems with drugs, high-school sex, AIDS and rape. None of these will go away until people in positions of responsibility come forward and explain, in frankly moral terms, that some of the things people do nowadays are wrong.”

The new “values” instilled in public schools are also reflected in the amoral, evil heroes and heroines which today’s youth admire. Marilyn Manson’s album Antichrist Superstar “was the third top-selling CD in its first week of release [in the fall of 1996]. With his stage name taken from suicidal sex symbol Marilyn Monroe and serial killer Charles Manson, this ordained satanist priest and his head-banging band openly defy every moral principle. Wearing T-shirts that read ‘Kill God, Kill Your Mom and Dad, Kill Yourself,’ the band celebrates hate, racism, sexual depravity, violence and blasphemy…as they mock God and rant against Jesus. Marilyn [Manson] said: ‘I’m on my way down now, I’d like to take you with me.’”

Only upon the ruins of Christianity could psychology’s theologians build their occult religion. Carl Rogers admitted, “Yes, it is true, psychotherapy is subversive…. Therapy, theories and techniques promote a new model of man contrary to that which has been traditionally acceptable.” In Psychology Today (PT) Rollo May exulted, “We have bid goodbye to the theologians at the wake for our dead God.” Already in 1969, PT declared that we must “face our own inner experiences without the guidance of traditional…foundation stones of Judeo-Christian experience…. We are compelled to erect our own morality, arrive at our own faith and belief….”
