Nuggets from "Whatever Happened to Heaven?"

The love of God creates love for others whom He loves, thus providing the only true motivation for fulfilling the Great Commission. In preaching the gospel we are to be messengers of God’s love, expressing and sharing it with the world. In making disciples, we are bringing others into a love relationship with Him. We are not calling them back under the law but into the freedom of God’s grace. It is love that motivates us to obey in a way that legal obligation and fear of judgment could never do. As Jesus told His disciples:
He that hath my commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me; and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. . . .
If a man love me, he will keep my words, and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings . . . (John:14:21,23,24).
