None can quarrel with the teaching that God has the right as Creator and Lord of the universe to do with man what He wills, nor with the justice of sending us all to hell, for that is what our sin merits. However, Scripture clearly tells us that God is "not willing that any should perish" (2 Peter:3:9), but that He desires "all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth" (1 Timothy:2:4). Christ's declaration to Nicodemus that God had not sent His Son into the world "to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved" (John:3:17) seems conclusive. It certainly leaves no room for the idea that God has determined to deliberately leave some men in their sins. Calvinism thus presents serious contradictions.
