Downey, who co-produced "The Bible" TV series and "Son of God" movie with husband Mark Burnett, said the new channel was inspired by the connection she feels to God through nature.
"A Moment of Light with Roma Downey" features devotional videos that combine scripture with shots of nature.
She said she wanted viewers of her YouTube channel to "take a moment to breathe into nature, and to give thanks, making us aware of God's presence."
"Really, it came about as an extension of my personal Instagram. I am so fortunate to live near the ocean, and I have always felt so connected to God in nature. As I was posting sunrises and sunsets with daily reflections and scripture, I quickly saw that people responded well to these posts," Downey told Light Workers, who are co-creators of the videos.
Downey starred in the TV series "Touched by an Angel", which ran on CBS from 1994 to 2003.
Reflecting on her time on the hit show, she spoke of how she used to pray onset with her co-star Della Reese.
"On 'Touched By An Angel' Della Reese and I always prayed before the angel revelation scene, we prayed that God would use us to touch people's hearts and remind them that God loves them," she said.
"I do the same here before writing these devotionals. I pray that His spirit will use them to touch hearts and bring comfort and encouragement to those who may need it."
She continued: "I pray, and then a theme arises that I want to expand upon; whether it's speaking to loneliness or feelings of worthlessness, I imagine one person who is feeling these emotions and I write for them.
"Other times I am inspired by my team. Sometimes they share with me the beautiful nature footage they filmed, and the visual imagery inspires the theme!"
[TBC: While we have warned about Roma Downey’s unbiblical beliefs for years, other ministries such as Lighthouse Trails have listed their own concerns which resonate with ours. They, like us have seen that Roma Downey has consistently and publicly proven herself to be strongly aligned with the New Age.
“The crux of the New Age is not Ouija boards and Tarot cards but rather is the foundational belief that God is “in” everyone and “in”everything. It is the prevailing doctrine throughout all New Age teachings as well as the root of mystical meditation. To believe that God is in everyone and in everything is to ultimately reject the Cross (whether one realizes that or not). If God is in everyone, then there would have been no reason for Jesus Christ to go to the Cross as a substitute for humanity’s sins because we would already be divine and not need a Savior. That is why one prominent New Age leader quoted his “God” as saying, “the era of the Single Savior is over” (because we are all Saviors, Neale Donald Walsch, The New Revelations: A Conversation with God(New York, NY: Atria Books, 2002),p. 157).
In Warren Smith’s booklet, Be Still and Know That You Are Not God (God is NOT in Everyone and Everything), Smith states:"Our Spiritual Adversary would have everyone believe that we are all “one”because God is “in” everyone and everything….To underscore this heretical New Age doctrine of God and Christ “in” everyone, he would have us further believe that nothing of any significance happened on the Cross of Calvary. However, the Bible makes it very clear that something extremely wonderful and overwhelmingly significant did happen on the Cross of Calvary. For it was on that Cross that Jesus Christ died to save the world as He defeated sin (1 John:2:2), death (2 Timothy:1:10), and the Devil himself (Hebrews:2:14). As the one and only Christ, He is our Rock (1 Corinthians:10:1-4), He is our Foundation (1 Corinthians 3:11), and in every sense of the word He is the Saviour of the world"(1 John:4:14).]
